FLETCHER is dropping some serious truth bombs!
The singer, who just released the searingly hot music video for her sapphic bop "Cherry" with Hayley Kiyoko, was flying on a plane yesterday when she told her fans to send her some questions to keep her entertained. One of the fans sent in a question asking "are you lesbian or bi?"
"I get this question so much," FLETCHER responded. "I just exist. If someone needed to put me in some sort of category for themselves to better understand, I would say I identify as queer."
"But a big part of my healing journey has been letting go of identities. Things I used to cling to so hard. 'I am this' or 'I am that,'" she continued. "Holding on so tightly to specific narratives keeps us in a perpetual state of suffering."
"So in regards to how I identify, I just am. In a constant state of evolution. Of in between. Of letting go," she said. "It's about energy. But I am attracted to strong feminine energy which just so happens to more likely than not be women hahahahaha."
In another response, she also gave her thoughts on ethical nonmonogamy. "Very here for anything that works for anyone," she said. "I personally have always struggled with the idea that society has fed us that there is only one person you should be with forever and always. I think as humans it's both instinctual and natural to continue having desire and attraction."
She continued, saying that "if that's something you and a partner can navigate with one another in a brutally open, honest, communicative way, then allll the power to you. Whatever works for you and makes you feel alive, chase that."
FLETCHER is having a tremendous end of the year, with her singles "girls girls girls" and "Cherry" taking over sapphic playlists everywhere.
She was also recently featured on the Forbes "30 Under 30" list, alongside other queer luminaries like JoJo Siwa, Barbie Ferreira, Olympic gold medalist Quinn, and out NFL player Carl Nassib.
